Summary
It was kind of unfair that I read this book, unfair for me and it's unfair that I have to review it. It's unfair because I didn't get to read the three before this one first. And I feel like anything negative I have to say about it is because of that. This book was excellently written and had a great plot. The fight scenes were amazing and the whole thing kept me reading more.
Tala gets an unusual prophesy about a child being taken away from her, before she got pregnant. Her and her husband, Matt laugh it off and continue with their crazy lives. When Tala becomes pregnant a series of events begin to happen. Going from Matt's abduction then Tala and her friend Michael's. It becomes clear that these werewolves want to kill Tala and her unborn daughter. It's a race against time and other elements to get Tala, Matt and everyone else out alive.
Like I said all of the negatives are because I haven't read any of the the other books but here they are. I felt lost because they were talking about things that already happened. They kept talking about fights and adventures that happened and I can only assume they happened in books 1-3. There was no character backstory or history for me to read because again I am assuming they already had them in the previous books. It was still a good read without the character backstories or history of past battles, it just would have been better with them.
I thought Matt and Tala were a cute couple though I did find it odd that she was a slayer and he wasn't. I love that she was a slayer, it reminded me of Buffy and I always love being reminded of BTVS. So does that make Matt, Xander...Okay I'm getting off topic and probably confusing. I guess I agree with Jeremiah that it would be weird for the girl to have to protect the boy. At the same time that's pretty awesome.
I don't think I've ever wanted a baddie to die quite as bad as I wanted this one too. This cult was dark, as are most cults but I was just over them. I was hoping someone –anyone would kill them.
This was a very interesting read. I'm glad I got the chance to read it even though I was confused for the first few chapters. Once the book really got going, I forgot all about not reading the previous books.
My name is Ashley. I spend most of my life in a hyper state (hence the name). I read, I write, I rant and whine. Enjoy this glimpse into my little world and no judgements please. Some of my reviews may include spoilers.
